The first service was held on the eve of the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, August 14, 1981 at 6:00 pm. at the temporary location of 4730 Frederick Boulevard. The dedication Mass was celebrated September 16, 1984 with Bishop John J Sullivan, Celebrant, and Monsignor Emmet Summers and Father William E. Daly as co-celebrants.
The parish census grew from 75 families to over 300 families during the first three years. Soon, there grew a great need for a much larger worship facility. Pastor, Monsignor Robert Murphy oversaw an expansion project that more than doubled the size of the original facility. Dedication of the newly expanded church was held in the Fall of 1996. The Pastor's that led Our Lady of Guadalupe in the years to come were Father Greg Haskamp, and Father Tom Ludwig. Currently, Father Christian Malewski serves as Pastor to the Parish. Our Lady of Guadalupe is once again a growing faith community with over 750 families.
Our Lady's Garden is designed for spiritual meditation and prayer. The garden is located at the East side of the main church and adjacent to the parking lot. Our Lady's Garden is open 24 hours for parishoners to enjoy solitude combined with the peaceful beauty of flowering plants and sacred statuary.
