The Guadalupe Breakfast Club is a group of parishioners who enjoy socializing/growing as a community of friends, carpooling to our chosen destination, visiting interesting places, and sharing a luncheon meal. We meet once a month, June through September. On the day of our journey, we attend the 8:00 a.m. Mass, share a small potluck breakfast in Summers Hall and around 9:30 a.m., we leave the OLOG parking lot and carpool to the site we've chosen for that month. We will have an organizational meeting on Wednesday, June 15th following Mass (8:45-9:00 a.m.). Coffee & OJ provided. The ajority of our parishioner-drivers have already been secured for the summer of 2022. Over the years, we've visited both religious and secular sites, including Conception Abbey, Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Benedictines of Mary/Queen of the Apostles, St. Benedicts and Mount Saint Scholastica in Atchison, Visitation Parish, a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Good Counsel/the Shrine of Divine Mercy, Holy Rosary Church in Weston, a tour of the Redemptorist Church and historic Catholic Churches in St. Benedict and Seneca, KS. We've traveled as far as St. Benedict's and Seneca, Kansas and as close by as the Walter Cronkite Museum at MWSU. We've also visited the Amelia Earhart Museum, the Atchison Railroad Museum, the Negro Baseball Museum, the shops along Main Street in Weston, the Harry S. Truman Library & Museum, the WWI Museum, the J.C. Penney Museum and Missouri Star Quilt in Hamilton. We've toured two local privately owned gardens, and the Powell Gardens in KC, and we've seen many exhibitions at Union Station. Every day-journey always includes lunch together before returning home. Each participant takes care of the cost of his/her own lunch, any entry fee involved, and makes a free-will contribution for fuel in the vehicle in which they travel. The Guadalupe Breakfast club helps nurture our Christian community, offering the opportunity to grow in friendships and meet new people. You're invited to attend the planning meeting on June 15th to help make decisions about our destination the last week of June, and also in July, August, and September. Please give me a call at the parish office, if you have questions, 816-232-2847.
