Kathy began her position at OLOG July 3, 1995, after working for the diocesan church for 8 years and returning to her hometown. During her time at the Chancery, her desire for parish ministry came into full bloom, through various pastoral care certifications, further education in theology, scripture, sacraments, grief/loss, communication, faith formation etc.; and later at Mosaic, two years of clinical pastoral education. Even as a child, she knew God wanted her to serve in some way and to listen to him speaking into her life, but in parish ministry, Kathy has experienced that call as a higher level of responsibility to the Body of Christ at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Kathy says, “I have been honored to serve with four pastors in my time here and I have grown and learned from each one. Working in parish ministry, knowing the people of the parish, has grown me, taught me, formed me and I am forever grateful for this life.”
Along with many other Catholics in St. Joseph and beyond, Kathy is an Oblate of St. Benedict affiliated with Mount Saint Scholastic, Atchison, KS. Her special interests range from painting (acrylic & water color), writing, poetry, music, and being with family. Kathy has three children, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
Kathy has many favorite saints but at the top, perhaps, is Saint Therese of Lisieux, AKA the “Little Flower,” made a Doctor of the Church for her great doctrine on her “Little Way” of loving God. “Everything is grace,” she said. “Everything is a grace because everything is God’s gift. Whatever be the character of life or its (painful) unexpected events – to the heart that loves, all is well.”
